I have
over 40 years experience as a surveyor with Ordnance Survey, resurveying and revising maps and data at 1:1250, 1:2500
and 1:10,000 scales, including surveys for Her Majesty’s Land Registry.
My experience includes
the interpretation and use of aerial photography for survey purposes.
I retired from Ordnance Survey holding the post
of Chief Surveyor and Production Group Manager for Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Rutland.
I have been seconded to the government of the
Republic of Indonesia
as an adviser on Survey Standards and Validation, and as a trainer of Balinese government surveyors in the revision of large
scale mapping by ground graphic survey methods.
I was the lead member of a team of eight Expert
Witnesses trained by Bond Solon to represent Ordnance Survey in the civil courts in litigation over property boundaries, Rights
of Way disputes and map interpretation. This work involved investigations, the
writing of reports and the giving of verbal evidence in court. I have
also advised the police and HM Customs on behalf of Ordnance Survey in criminal cases.
I am fully conversant with the requirements of the
Civil Procedure Rules Part 35 (Experts and Assessors) and the associated Practice Directions and Codes of Practice.
I am a vetted member listed in the UK Register of Expert
Witnesses.
Ordnance Survey has now withdrawn from corporate
involvement in this field of work and I am consequently available to undertake Expert
Witness and consultancy work as an individual.
If my experience and expertise can be of use to
you in an advisory capacity, or in preparation for civil litigation I am available for a free 10 minute discussion without
any obligation.
